Brass Hand Bell
Brass hand bell is a bell designed to be rung by hand with beautiful brass carving work. Brass hand bell is the combination of low internal damping and low internal sound velocity that makes bell metal specially suitable for resonant percussion instruments. Brass Bell sound is considered auspicious which welcomes gods with resonant sound. The sound of bell is said to disengage mind from ongoing thoughts thus making the mind more receptive. To ring a hand bell, a ringer grasps the bell by its handle.
Bells are generally hung at the temple dome in front of the garbha griha. It is said that by ringing the bell, the devotee informs the deity of his/her arrival. The sound of the bell is considered auspicious which welcomes divinity and dispels evil. Hand held bells are held in left hand and rung continuously while the various other Puja items are offered to God with right hand. It is considered that the ringing bells wards off evil spirit and is pleasant to God. Producing sharp sound by bell or ghanti, considered very sacred.
